Here comes the second month of the year. It is February 2009 already. I woul love to think of the X-Mas and New Year celebrations as something that passed just about two weeks ago. It’s a wonder how fast time flies.

Included on my list of New Year resolutions is the resolution of always keeping weekly and monthly accounts. This means that at the beginning of each week or month, I should be able to sit down for an hour or two and account for the past week or month.

This is personal and for the sole purpose of self improvement. I am not presenting it to anyone. I Guess such a practice helps me know where I am heading to. Though I dropped the weekly accounts and concentrated only on my monthly achievements, I am pretty sure that I would still be having the best possible results out of this.

At one point, I used to find myself asking what I have been doing for the past years. I guess this is so because I wasn’t accountable for my living. This time around, things are changing. I have already made an account of January 2009 and I have at least a 60% success. I hope I will score an A this month.

How Was The New Year Celebration?

Hmmm. This is a very common question that proceeds greetings during the early days of January each year.  People have various ways of interpreting and participating in celebrations. Some celebrate by just taking a holiday (away from work) or a trip to a more or less far location. Some celebrate by eating, drinking and dancing to the fullest. Some prefer having a quiet time at home and choose to reflect over the significance of the day being celebrated. For some, it is a combination of two or more of what I have outlined above.

To Start with, the New Year met me in front of my PC, at my job site, while I was just browsing around and making sure my blogs are OK. I wanted to make a blogging schedule for the year, so i visited Good Calendar and signed up with my Google account. Though the calendar looks very mature with lots of functions, it didn’t turn out to be what I expected. I am not saying it is bad, no. I doubt if there can be a better one out there. I signed out.

It was not until 3:00AM that I had a brief sleep, on a couch, and got up at about 6:30AM. I browsed the web for another two hours and went home.

Church service is at 9:00AM so I still got some time. A cool shower and getting into one of my favorite outfits was all I needed.

By midday, I was already home. I had plans of doing some laundry, but on this particular day, I wasn’t really feeling like to work. I wanted to do something I have passion for. Good enough for me, I took home all of my audio CDs and a DVD containing 9 movies. I listened to my tracks, some of which I have not listened for long and they sound completely new and better. The movies I watched were “The Business”, “Smooking Barrels” and “Miami Vice”.

After watching those movies, you won’t believe how deeply I fell into sleep from about 5pm to 10pm. That isn’t really a long time, but what makes it special is that I enjoyed the sleep and it was without any interruptions. When I got up, I took a shower, changed into a more confortable outfit and went straight to my PC. As soon as I signed in to yahoo messenger, there was Lainy saying Hi, and later on Allena and before I knew it, I was exchanging some words with almost everyone at home. What a happy family. I love being in their presence. I was on with Lainy and Allena till about a few minutes past 3AM and reluctantly went to bed after Lainy insisted I needed some sleep.

Well, that’s it. Not a very busy day, and with very little celebrations, but I can proudly say that it ws a great one.

Happy New Year to all.

Yeah, I intend pushing the publish button at exactly 11:55pm so that it gets published just a few seconds before 2009. This is actually my last post for the year.

It is always difficult to meet up to expectations, and also to be grateful for what we have. Maybe this is because we set standards that are to high for us to achieve, and secondly because we have certain things at the expense of others, so we can’t really value them. Throughout this year that will be ending in the next few minutes, I have always been unsatisfied with most of the things that concern me, always expecting more. However, when I come to see where I could have stood if I never had the little I have and I never went as far as I have gone, I get down on my knees and thank God. 2008 Has been a very great year.

This year, I never attempted 25 of the things I planned. Of the remaining 75, I failed 50 and 25 were passed with just an average. This was not only about me. I led many people down and failed quite a bunch. I am not really standing at the apex, where I thought I would, neither am I receiving all the rainfall and sunshine I desire and dreamt for.

Out of all these failures, however, one thing remains certain. I tried my best. Yeah, of course, my best wasn’t enough, but it was my best, right?

In the next few minutes, I would be starting another year and I bet you, with God’s alway available help, it would be 9,999,999,999,999 times better than last year. Playing better with the same cards is my goal
