2009Up there in Bamenda, my home town, it was lots of fun but I still missed Buea so much because of a number of reasons.
First, I don’t have friends in Bamenda as much as I have down here in Buea. I meet lots of old friends here and make new ones. At my job site, I see tens of friends each day and try to meet up with a few online. I really missed communicating with Lainy, Ivy, Allena, Vilma and Kittle.
Secondly, I missed blogging. Since there is no internet in my village, the only time I could blog was in town at a cybercafe. It is very boring blogging that way. Most of the time when I sat in front of the computer, the rampant outages won’t allow me make a single post.
Thirdly, I missed work. My job is very tedious but I still enjoy it. Doing noth8ing but watching TV, partying with friends and sleeping was already getting boring. I am glad I am back to living a “normal” life.
On Wednesday, mum came back from work at about 7pm. Imagine the look on her face when I told her I will be heading for Buea that same like. “You are just like your father”, she said, and my Aunt rounded it up “does anyone not give birth to another person’s child”?
. I understood what they were up to, but thank God they allowed me to travel. I had to leave at 8pm so as to be at the park on time but before I looked at the clock, it was almost 9pm so I had to leave in a great rush. I hurried to Edith’s place, took some parcels she prepared for Noela and went straight to the motor park. I was almost late.
When I arrived Buea early (5AM) yesterday morning, I stopped at Noela’s place and spent the whole day with her. I helped her check a few things on her brand new laptop. I also helped type a few paragraphs of her assignments and watched an Indian movie names “Doom”.
Later in the evening, we paid a visit to Rosy where we watched TV and a movie names “Two Week Notice”. It was an interesting day. I spent the night at Noela’s place and here I am, at work, and trying to make some updates on this blog. It is almost 2pm. I guess Lainy should be online now. Let me check…

2009Continuing from yesterday. I did travel safely and arrived Bamenda at 7am.
The court wedding starts at 8:00am and the location is about 10 miles from my home. Although I am very tired and feeling sleepy, this is not an occasion for me to miss. I couldn’t make it at 8 am so I got there at 9. Lucky enough for me, nothing had started yet and all 12 couples together with their witnesses, parents and some relatives and friends where all there waiting for the mayor. Many people expected that the mayor’s assistance will begin the occasion if the mayor was late, but no way. We all waited for the mayor’s arrival at 10am. The occasion which was expected to end at 11am took us up to 2:15pm. From the courtroom, we proceeded to small hall where we had some prayers, food and drinks and also got to introduce ourselves to each other.
After that, I followed Simon to his place and spent a few minutes there. During that short time, we boith received calls from Noela, asking us if everything went on well.
I left Simon’s place and went to a cybercafe to talk to Lainy as I promised but it was already late. I was very sure not to meet her and I wasn’t surprised not meeting her online. I decided to switch to plan B, writing this post and immediately I it “publish” I went to see Aunty Manka. I was very suire she would get mad at me for being i Bamenda without calling her but on the contrary, she was very happy seeing me.
After spending some time with Noela’s sister, I left for Simon’s Bach Eve…

2009If I tell you I am not jealous, come on…don’t believe me. I am, but that’s OK. He is my friend. Not just a friend, a very special type. The type you wish could be your brother. He is my brother, anyway. We look very alike and almost the same age and height. The difference is just that h has put on a little more weight than me and is smarter than I would ever be
.
His name is Ambe Simon Numfor, a very well respected artist in the BDA neighborhood. He is into HipHop and has a very large fan base. He has already released two demo albums and a long list of single hits. He sings in both English, pidgin and in our local dialect. He loves and produces music that deals directly with our immediate surroundings and its problems. Music is his life.
He has always been a very bright student at school, obtained a first degree in Medicine in the University of Buea, obtained some working experience and is now on a paid job in one of the loneliest parts of the country
However, he is happy with it. He is open to a whole lot more of opportunities there, especially in his music career.
Just about a week before X-mas, Simon told me;
“Men, soon ur man’s gonna jump 2 another level, he he he. You guyz gonna pay ur respect to a whole different G, a responsible spouse and soon 2 be dad”.
I couldn’t believe it, but it was true. Simon is getting married soon, 24th Jan 2008. That’s a big challenge to me, I must admit. I wish him the best in his love life and marital home.

2008Ohh! Mum again. Calls me home and says it is urgent. I have been thinking if it is some of of trick to get me up there so that I spend Christmas with the family. I asked what the problem was, over and over and she said “please just come, it is urgent and we can’t talk it over the phone”.
She claims my Aunt and Her have got important issues they want to discuss with me. She says it concerns my dad’s death celebration and other important things we have to do at the palace. That is the only lead she gave after I insisted for a very long time.
Well, mum is mum and I have to trust that she does not just want me to make an unnecessary trip to Bamenda. I therefore will be traveling to Bamenda this night. I haven’t even told my baby, but I guess she will understand and let me go.

2008I was scared telling my baby that I will be traveling to Bamenda all of a sudden. I however, thought she would understand it is not my fault and that I have to attend to Mum’s call. I expected her to say yes and in a low sad voice, tell me she will be waiting for me but…
I can’t just be here alone. Although I planned traveling on the 23rd, spending these few days without you here will be like in hell. I am going with you.
How sweet!
